Ex-wives Weinstein has achieved a freeze of his assets, media reported
Two ex-wife of American film producer Harvey Weinstein, convicted of rape, was able to convince the court to impose a temporary ban on its assets in the amount of six million dollars, informs television channel ABC, citing court documents and sources.
Channel notes that in April the ex-wife of producer Eve Chilton, with whom he broke up in 2004, and Georgina Chapman, who divorced him in 2017, appealed to the court and eventually succeeded. Sources close to Weinstein said that the asset freeze impedes its ability to appeal in new York and conduct the proceedings in Los Angeles.
The rest of his assets frozen in connection with the issue of bankruptcy and other civil cases, the sources added channel.
In March, the Supreme court of the state of new York sentenced Weinstein, convicted of rape and forced oral sex, to 23 years in prison. In this case the jury acquitted him on three other counts, including the more serious rape, for which he faces life imprisonment. The case against Weinstein also addressed in the California court.
