The fate of the start-3 Treaty is a foregone conclusion, Lavrov said
The fate of the Treaty on the reduction of strategic offensive arms (start-3) is a foregone conclusion, the United States has decided not to extend it, said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov.
"Apparently, the decision not to renew the Treaty (start-3) in the USA has already been taken. The insistence with which emphasizes the lack of alternatives to translate the whole conversation in the triangular plane, it says that it's a foregone conclusion," said Lavrov during an online session, "Primako readings."
In addition, he noted, the US put forward conditions that must be included in the conversation of the latest Russian weapons that "by and large means to knock at an open door".
The contract on reduction of strategic offensive arms (start-3) signed on in 2010, remains the only current agreement between Russia and the USA on the limitation of armaments. The agreement expires in February 2021, while Washington has not announced any plans to renew it. The US administration at different levels emphasizes the need for the inclusion of China in the negotiation of a new trilateral nuclear agreement between Russia, China and the United States. In Beijing, this idea is rejected. The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia supports the extension of the contract about SNV-3 without preconditions.
