The white house announced new measures against China because of the "annexation" of Hong Kong
USA in the near future will take significant new action against China's Hong Kong, as based on the fact that China has "annexed" Hong Kong, said the Advisor to the President for national security Robert O'brien.
"In the coming days and weeks you will see a significant series of measures against China," said O'brien, the journalists of the presidential pool.
"The President (Donald trump) has said that Hong Kong will no longer be treated as a separate entity, it will be treated as a part of China. There is a certain amount of regulations and a number of actions to be implemented to achieve this concept of the President", - he added.
"Hong Kong were de facto annexed by the PRC, the Communist party of China, and they impose their will on a free democratic nation," said O'brien
The United States has taken a number of actions, including restriction of deliveries of military technology and visa restrictions in response to the introduction of the new PRC law on national security in Hong Kong.
Chinese President XI Jinping signed a decree on the entry into force on 30 June of the law on the protection of national security of Hong Kong. Earlier, the standing Committee of vsekitajsky meeting of national representatives endorsed the law. PC NPC also decided to include the law in Annex III of the basic law of the Special administrative region of Hong Kong.
The bill on national security caused discontent of anti-government forces in Hong Kong and some Western officials who see it as a desire by Beijing to tighten control over the autonomy.
Hong Kong came back into the possession of China from Britain in 1997, and since then have enjoyed a wide autonomy. The Central government of China adhere to the principle of "one country, two systems" in the management of the district. According to the joint Declaration of great Britain and China, Hong Kong will retain broad autonomy until 2047. How will be managed the former British colony after that date are not yet known.
