China will introduce visa restrictions for citizens of the USA because of Tibet

China has decided to impose visa restrictions on U.S. citizens in response to similar actions of Washington against the officials of China because of the situation in Tibet, said at a briefing on Wednesday the official representative of the Chinese foreign Ministry Zhao Lijiang.

Earlier, Secretary of state Mike Pompeo said that the U.S. imposed visa restrictions against the officials of China who are involved in the restriction of entry of foreigners to the Tibetan Autonomous region of China. According to him, Beijing continues to "systematically impede travel in the Tibetan Autonomous region and other Tibetan areas of American diplomats and other officials, journalists and tourists, while PRC officials and other citizens have much greater access to the United States."

"We strongly oppose (specified - ed.) measures of the United States, and in response to erroneous actions of the American side, China has decided to impose visa restrictions on US citizens for the unacceptable attitude towards Tibet," the diplomat said.

He also stressed that China will not tolerate any foreign interference in the Affairs of Tibet.

"We urge the US to stop using the Tibet issue to interfere in China's internal Affairs, to avoid further damage to bilateral relations", - said Zhao Lijiang.
