The Federation Council will discuss with the CEC the question of the observance of the "day of silence" before the elections, said RIA Novosti Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on constitutional legislation Andrey Klishas.
The question of the observance of the "day of silence" before the election is relevant for the discussion of legislators and experts, has previously stated RIA Novosti the head of the CEC of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova. According to her, in a number of countries have abandoned the "day of silence" as "to ensure full compliance very difficult."
"I agree that the question is relevant," said Klishas.
According to him, the Committee will discuss with the CEC, does the observance of the "day of silence" for the electoral process.
"To meet the requirements of the "day of silence" is not difficult, but the question is, does it something with the CEC discuss," said the Senator.
According to the Russian legislation on elections, campaigning on the channels of TV and radio broadcasting and printed publications held in the period which begins 28 days before election day and ends at midnight local time the day before the vote. The day before the start of voting comes the so-called "day of silence", when prohibited any agitation. The only exceptions are the previously placed campaign posters, which must be not closer than 50 meters from polling stations.
