The US must compensate Iran for the damage from sanctions, said the foreign Minister

Washington should compensate Iran for the damage caused by sanctions, whoever becomes the next President of the United States, said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif.

"In 2021 (the year) in the White house will sit, the President (Donald) trump or any other President, whoever sat, he from the previous government will take over the responsibility, including for damages caused to the Iranian people and economy. They (the us authorities – ed.) will need to compensate for the damage return to international agreements, no matter who won the White house," the Minister said during a virtual discussion in the framework of the "Mediterranean dialogue".

Before Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said that Tehran will negotiate with Washington only in the framework of the nuclear deal and the compensation for damages. First, he emphasized that the loss of Iran because of U.S. sanctions was about $ 50 billion, which is comparable to the two budgets last year.

The United States presidential election will be held on 3 November 2020.
