Aliyev said the lack of negotiation process on Karabakh
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that the negotiation process on the Karabakh conflict settlement is not actually conducted, a video conference of foreign Ministers does not have value.
Last video-conference of foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia Elmar Mammadyarov and Zohrab Mnatsakanian took place on 30 June.
"Today, in fact, the negotiation process is not conducted. A video conference of foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia do not matter. It only means that the OSCE Minsk group is in action. Well, until when? To be in action does not mean to be effective", - said Aliyev in an interview to some local TV channels.
The President of Azerbaijan stressed that he wants to conduct substantive negotiations. "Yes, in this case, we will participate in the negotiations. Otherwise, talks are needed there. We expect the Minsk group and stand firmly on our position, justice is on our side", he concluded.
The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh began in February 1988 when Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous region announced its secession from the Azerbaijan SSR. In the course of the armed conflict in 1992-1994, Azerbaijan lost control over Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent districts. Since 1992 negotiations on peaceful settlement of the conflict within the OSCE Minsk group, headed by three co - chairs-Russia, USA and France.
