Russia and the United States failed to narrow differences on the Treaty on open skies
Russia and the US failed to bring closer the positions, it is unlikely that Washington will reconsider its decision to withdraw from the Treaty on open skies, said RIA Novosti Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Ryabkov on the results of the virtual conference of the participating countries.
Monday in an online format was a conference of the countries-participants of the Treaty on open skies, which was convened after the decision of the USA to leave the contract.
"We can say that convergence approaches did not happen - "everything was left on his own." But it was, in fact, quite predictable", - said Ryabkov.
He stressed the importance of the fact of the meeting, because "we got the opportunity to further represent our assessment of the situation, including, in particular, the consequences which might result from the US withdrawal from the Treaty."
"I do not think that the outcome of today's event increased the odds that the US will revise its already-announced decision to withdraw from the Treaty. Unfortunately," - said Ryabkov.
