The former head of the national Bank of Ukraine has told, why has decided to retire

Former head of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakov Smoliy said that he had taken the decision to resign after talking with President Vladimir Zelensky, who said bluntly that he needed to resign.

Smoliy, who served as head of the national Bank since March, 2018, July 1, wrote a letter of resignation, explaining that "systematic political pressure" on the Bank, and filed with the President. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the proposal Zelensky July 3, Smoliy was fired from the post of head of the national Bank of the country.

"After the meeting of the National Council reform, June 30, I had a meeting with the President. During this conversation, I realized that I should ask the President if I should quit. He said Yes... According to him, the conversation with the President was calm, without any disputes. "Do not misunderstand, it was not from the President such that he said, "fine, go, you make me sick". I understood from the context that needs to resign," - said resin.

However, the former head of the national Bank said that he had discussed with Zelensky possible candidate on a post of the head of the regulator. Smoliy said he advised the President to pay attention to any of his deputies. According to the ex-Governor, Zelensky listened and held discussions with the Deputy head of the national Bank.
