Premiere of the film "Dalai Lama – the scientist" will be held on the day of his anniversary
The online premiere of the documentary "Dalai Lama – the scientist" will be held on the day of the 85th anniversary of the world famous Buddhist spiritual leader (July 6) in Russian on the official site of Fund of assistance to preservation of cultural and philosophical traditions of Tibetan Buddhism "Save Tibet" (savetibet.ru), twice at 14.00 GMT and 19.00 GMT, told RIA Novosti in the Fund.
"For more than 30 years I work very closely with Western scholars. Now, when I think about myself, I sometimes think that a Buddhist monk I only half. Half I am a scientist," admits Sam, Dalai Lama XIV, Tenzin Gyatso.
In the film, he was the first person tells the story of his journey from the world of Buddhism in the world of modern science, revealing previously unknown to a wide audience a facet of his personality. The Dalai Lama rejects the dogmatism, insisting that the search for the truth of any beliefs must be subjected to experimental verification. Since 1987, he began to hold regular dialogues with prominent scientists, including psychologist Paul Ekman, a mathematician and geneticist Eric Lander, a neuroscientist Christoph Koch, an astrophysicist George Grinsteiner, a Professor of psychology and psychiatry Richard Davidson neuroscientist and a Francisca Varela. They discussed the problems of the origin of the universe, the idea of the existence of many parallel universes, the structure of consciousness and human nature. In the film "Dalai Lama – the scientist" there is a clear division into five main areas of research: cosmology, quantum physics, cognitive science, neurobiology, molecular biology and genetics.
The film features unique footage, which has never been published. Immediately after the release, he has received international acclaim, winning over 50 awards at film festivals around the world.

The XIV Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso was born July 6, 1935 in the village of Taktser in the North-East of Tibet. In 1937 he was recognized as the reincarnation of his predecessor, the Dalai Lama XIII, and in 1940 enthroned. After inclusion of Tibet in China, the Dalai Lama in 1959 moved to India. His residence in Dharamsala in the Northern state of Himachal Pradesh, in the foothills of the Himalayas. For educational activities in different countries and peacekeeping efforts, the Dalai Lama was awarded in 1989 the Nobel peace prize. He pays special attention to development of education and interaction of Buddhism with modern science throughout life, and in recent years, actively cooperating with prominent Russian scientists.
