United Russia has nominated Penza Governor candidate for new elections
The delegates of the conference of the Penza regional branch of the party "United Russia" on Saturday nominated incumbent Governor of the region Ivan Belozertseva candidate on elections of the head region, told RIA Novosti in the press service of regotdeleniya EP.
Belozertsev in September 2015 was elected Governor of the Penza region for a five year term through direct elections. Before that in may 2015 he led the region in the position of acting Governor. Russian President Vladimir Putin on 11 June 2020 via video link meets with Belozertseva and wished him success in the upcoming elections of the Governor. The Secretary General Council of "United Russia" Andrey Turchak later announced that the EP will be nominated as a candidate Belozertseva in the gubernatorial election.
The press service noted that the nomination of candidates to the governors at the conference was on an alternative basis: in the ballot included candidates Belozertseva and the Deputy of legislative Assembly of region Vladimir Kirillov.
"At the opening of the box (secret) vote 125 ballots discovered, including invalidated one ballot valid - 124 Bulletin...When counting the votes were as follows: for the Belozertseva Ivan Aleksandrovich voted by 119 delegates for Kirillov Vladimir Pavlovich - five delegates," - said the press service.
Elections of the Governor of the Penza region held on September 13. Nomination of candidates will end at 18.00 GMT on July 19, and their registration - on July 29. The head of the LDPR faction in the legislative Assembly of the Penza region Alexander Vasilyev 25 June, first submitted to the regional election Commission documents for participation in elections of the Governor. The conference of the Penza branch of "Fair Russia" on 20 June nominated the candidate of the head regotdeleniya Anna Ochkina.
