Ryabkov will head the delegation to the conference on the Treaty on open skies

Russian Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said RIA Novosti that the head of the Russian interagency delegation at the conference of the countries-participants of the Treaty on open skies on 6 July.

The conference will be held on Monday, in a virtual format. It was convened after the U.S. decision to withdraw from the agreement.

"All countries that currently are parties to this agreement will participate in the conference. It will be virtual in the format of a video link. Delegations are formed, many will be in the interdepartmental format, including we," Ryabkov said, adding that the Russian delegation will be headed by him.

The Treaty on open skies was signed in 1992 and became one of the measures for strengthening confidence in Europe after the cold war. It has been operating since 2002 and allows the participating countries to openly gather information about military forces and activities of each other. After the US withdrawal in the Contract will remain 34 States.
