"Well, if this is so, then what are you worried about?" — asked the Senator.

According to him, the desire to extend the start-3 Treaty on "Poseidon" and "Thunderbird" is an attempt to repeat the experience 40 years ago with the agreement on intermediate ago.

"They just dismantled and left in the warehouses, and we all cut up. Today they want to re-enable this process", — said Klintsevich.

He recalled the unilateral termination by Americans of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter-range.

"At the same time accused us of themselves, completely violated the Treaty and when it ceased to exist, exactly one month tested a new cruise missile," — said the MP.

Klintsevich said that the US action "is for fools." According to him, the Americans create the content taking into account imposed on Russia the information war.

"Undoubtedly, this situation stems from the fact that they before the introduction of 15-20 years. It's still not enough. By this time we find some new solution," explained the Senator.

He stressed that the Russian defensive strategy preclude participation in the arms race and provides for the security as a weapon.

The question of whether the subject of the new Russian weapons systems under start-3, was one of the stumbling blocks in the renewal of this contract after 2021.

The contract on reduction of strategic offensive arms (start-3) remains the only current agreement between Russia and the USA on the limitation of armaments. It will cease to operate after February 5, 2021. Earlier Vladimir Putin offered to extend the contract for five years without conditions.
