Akila Saleh welcomed Russia's mediation in the settlement in Libya

The speaker's ruling in Eastern Libya the house of representatives (Parliament) of akila Saleh said that a military solution to the crisis in the country does not exist, and welcomed the mediation of the Russian Federation in the settlement.

"Confirm to you that a military solution to the crisis in Libya is missing," said Saleh at a meeting with Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

He also noted that "the political openness of the Russian diplomacy with all international actors, including the Arab and Islamic world, making your country an acceptable and effective as a mediator in resolving international crises".

"We make sure of it, watching your efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis," said Saleh.

Russia is making efforts to resolve the Libyan conflict. In particular, she participated in the international conference on Libya in January in Berlin, the main outcome of which was the appeal of its members to cease-fire and the obligation to refrain from intervention in the conflict, respecting an embargo on the supply of arms to the parties. The Russian Federation also supported the "Cairo initiative" of Egypt, which includes a cease-fire throughout Libya from June 8 and conditions for a political settlement.

Russia has repeatedly stated that the alternative to a peaceful solution to the conflict in Libya is not.

After the overthrow and murder of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya has virtually ceased to function as a unified state. Now the country is in a diarchy. To the East sits a Parliament elected by people, and in the West, in the capital Tripoli, the rules generated with the support of the UN and the European Union, the Government of national consent headed by Saragam. The authorities of the Eastern part of the country operate independently from Tripoli to cooperate with the Libyan national army, led by Marshal Khalifa the Haftarot, which is April 2019 not stop trying to seize Tripoli. In late April, Haftar announced the release of a political agreement on the peaceful settlement of the conflict and the formation of the NTC, signed on December 17 2015 in the city of Skhirat (Morocco). Haftar also said that the LDF takes into their hands the management of all controlled territories.
