In Nakhodka detained a foreign ship because of debts to the sailors

The authorities of the Primorsky port of Nakhodka detained the ship Bourbon under the flag of Liberia because of salary debts to Ukrainian sailors, RIA Novosti the representative of the International transport workers ' Federation (ITF) in the far East, Pyotr Osichansky.

According to him, at the end of June, the Ukrainian crew of the ship Bourbon appealed to the trade Union of seamen of Vladivostok on the way to Discovery. The sailors reported a two-month wage arrears and wanted to be repatriated.

"About a three-month debt for the engineer it was recommended to write a written statement and a write-off in connection with the termination of the contract the rest of the crew. The captain of the port was sent to the treatment of the crew demanding the cancellation of and payment of wage arrears. The second of July the ship was detained until full payment of the debt to the crew," said Osichansky.

According to him, today the ship should end loading, and it will stand up until the seamen do not pay back. Osichansky said that the exact amount of debt has not yet been clarified, but, according to preliminary estimates, it is at least 60-80 thousand dollars.

Regarding the repatriation of the crew, it was explained that the sailors will have to be quarantined for 14 days after the cancellation. In addition, four sailors at the port was examined by the doctor and revealed a worsening of some chronic diseases in sailor and cook, assigning them a treatment. Medical indications for urgent repatriation was not added.
