Russia plans to deploy a new military space-based communications system
New orbital grouping of military communications satellites and exploration is scheduled to begin to expand in 2022 and 2023, said the commander of aerospace forces Colonel General Sergey Surovikin.
"In 2022 are expected to get the start of the deployment of promising a unified system of satellite communication of the third stage of the Russian Armed forces, and in 2023 – the deployment of high-orbit space exploration system", - he told in interview to the newspaper "Red star".
According to him, in the interests of the VCS creates a unified command-measuring system "Topaz", which allows you to control the spacecraft in all types of orbits.
Currently operating a single satellite communication system of the second stage consists of a spacecraft "Meridian" in highly elliptical orbits and "Raduga-1M" in geostationary orbits.
