Erdoğan made his first foreign visit after the pandemic

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived on Thursday with working visit in Qatar, this trip was the first foreign visit of the Turkish leader since the beginning of the pandemic coronavirus, reported the Qatari news Agency QNA.

Earlier, the Qatari news Agency reported that the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will accept Erdogan on Thursday night "to discuss ways to strengthen strategic relations and the latest developments in the region and in the world."

As noted by the Agency, "the Turkish President and his accompanying delegation upon arrival at Doha international airport was greeted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of defense Khaled al-Attiyah".

Erdogan became the first head of state who arrived in Qatar from the beginning of the pandemic coronavirus. He went to Qatar, which is considered the most faithful ally of Ankara in the middle East, after a virtual meeting with presidents of Russia and Iran on Syria. Before the meeting, the foreign Minister of Qatar Mohamed Ben Abderrahmane al-Thani announced that Doha will allocate additionally 100 million dollars to help Syrians.

On Wednesday, the leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran, Vladimir Putin, Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani held a meeting via videoconference, which discussed the situation in Syria. At the summit the presidents of the three countries confirmed their commitment to the territorial integrity of Syria, expressed his opposition to the illegal seizure of oil revenues in the country, reaffirmed their determination to cooperate to eliminate the terrorists and agreed to strengthen coordination on resolving the Syrian conflict. The parties also urged the international community to increase assistance to all Syrians without exception.

Qatar is home to a military base in Turkey, where from 2017, when the neighboring Saudi Arabia and the UAE began to threaten military intervention to Qatar after the rupture of diplomatic relations, based of five thousand soldiers. Qatar and Turkey support the Palestinian national consensus Government of Libya, which ruled from Tripoli.
