In the US, about 1.7 thousand voted for amendments to the Constitution of Russia
About 1.7 thousand of the electorate voted in the United States for amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, told RIA Novosti in Russian diplomatic missions.
The Consulate General in new York for the amendments voted 310 people, against 505, told RIA Novosti press-Secretary of Russian Consulate in new York Alexey Topol's'ke. According to him, of the 816 ballots issued at the opening of the ballot boxes was short one — apparently, the voter took with him.
As the correspondent of RIA Novosti from the polling station at the Embassy in Washington, they voted 675 people. The amendment was voted 395 people (58.5 per cent) were against 275 people (40.7 per cent) and five ballots were declared invalid.
The Consul General of Russia in Houston Alexander Pisarev has told RIA Novosti that the area voted by 201 people, vote counting is still in progress.
In connection with the epidemic of the coronavirus, Russian diplomats held a vote in the United States only in three points: the diplomatic missions in Washington, new York and Houston, from mobile voting had to be abandoned because of the restrictive measures.
