In Kalmykia by July 1, more than half of the voters voted for amendments

More than half of voters in the Republic voted for amendments to the Constitution by the morning of 1 July, reported RIA Novosti the Chairman of the electoral Commission of the region Alexander Dikalov.

According to Dikalova, in Kalmykia was opened for voting 233 of the site, the total number of voters in the region 204 470 people.

"At the time of opening of polling stations voted almost 57%", - said Dikalov.

A nationwide vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation was scheduled for 22 April, but then postponed because of the epidemic of coronavirus in the country. Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a new date for voting on 1 July. Because of the need to take into account the epidemiological situation and the security of the population, it was decided that the Russians will be able to vote all week from 25 June to 1 July.
