Nebesa called the U.S. resolution on arms embargo against Iran by utopia
The draft U.S. resolution on extension of the arms embargo against Iran, expiring in the fall, is utopian and has no chance, he said at a UN security Council meeting, Russia's permanent representative at the organization of Vasily sebenza.
Earlier, the US introduced in the UN security Council a draft resolution on the extension of the arms embargo against Iran, which expires this fall.
According to the draft, the security Council must decide that after the expiration of the measures imposed in resolution 2231, "all member States shall prevent the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer to Iran through their territories or by their nationals, or using their vessels or aircraft ... of arms and related material". The exception, based on American project, it may be the case if the special Committee shall approve at least 30 days of such activities "for humanitarian purposes or for any other task to meet the objectives of this resolution."
In addition, the document envisages the introduction of a ban on the supply, sale or transfer of Iranian weapons. Member countries of the UN, according to the text, should forbid its citizens to buy weapons from Iran. The authors propose to forbid the States to share with Iran experts, knowledge and financial resources that can be used to create and maintain them. The US also propose to prohibit Iran to take such action in relation to the outside world.
The country on the basis of the project should freeze the financial assets of individuals and institutions that violate these provisions, it follows from the text.
Iran and the six international negotiators in July 2015 have reached a historic agreement on the settlement of the longstanding problem of the Iranian atom. Months of negotiations concluded with the adoption of a joint comprehensive plan of action (SVPD), which is completely removed from Iran's previously imposed economic and financial sanctions by the UN security Council, US and EU. The agreement in particular provided that the arms embargo will be lifted on Iran within 5 years, the supply of arms possible before, but only with the permission of the UN security Council. The deal in its original form lived for three years: in may 2018, the United States announced its unilateral withdrawal from her and the restoration of tougher sanctions against Tehran.
