Putin handed a note to a veteran of Rzhev
The President passed a note to a WWII veteran at the opening ceremony of the Rzhev memorial to Soviet soldiers.
Published footage shows President wrote something on a piece of paper and then handed it to standing next to the man. Thereafter, the veteran and his message in the hands of the departed head of state.
Vladimir Putin arrived in Rzhev on the opening of the memorial to Soviet soldiers, the ceremony was attended by President Alexander Lukashenko. Also the leaders of the two countries participated in the international project "the memory Garden" and the fir-trees were planted in memory of the fallen in the great Patriotic war.
Rzhevskiy soldier bronze sculpture with a height of 25 meters and weighing about 80 tons, which is located near the village of Khoroshevo Rzhevsky district of Tver region. The memorial was built on the initiative of veterans and public donations.
