Tikhanovski filed documents for registration on elections in Belarus

The sixth contender for the President of Belarus, unemployed Svetlana Tikhanovski filed to the CEC documents for registration as candidate, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday in the Commission.

"Documents taken from Svetlana Tikhanovski," - said the Agency representative of the CEC.

He said that Tikhanovski became the sixth candidate for the highest state post in the current election campaign filed to the CEC documents for registration as a candidate. Earlier documents were also taken from the former head of the HTP administration Valery Tsepkalo, former Chairman of the Board of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko, who is in custody in the criminal case, former Deputy of lower chamber of Parliament of Belarus Anna Konopacki, co-chair of public Association "Tell the truth" Andrei Dmitriev and the Chairman of the Belarusian social-democratic "Hramada" Sergei Ceresna.

Thus, to date, papers filed, only the headquarters of incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko, who is running for a sixth term.

The Belarusians will choose the head of state on August 9. From 20 June to 4 July is the stage of filing to the CEC documents for registration of presidential candidates, and from 5 to 14 July will be held the registration itself. The decision on registration or refusal of registration, the CEC takes, it also takes into account violations of the electoral legislation in the period of collecting signatures, which ended June 19. Valid signatures in support of nomination of each candidate shall be installed not less than 100 thousand.
