Putin explained the necessity of multi-day voting

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the vote on the amendments to the Constitution lasts a few days, to protect people's health.

"You know that the voting is going on for several days. And this step is dictated by the requirement to protect the health of people," he said in his address to the Russians.

Putin also thanked those who have already voted. He noted that July 1 will be the main day of voting. "I ask you, dear friends, to tell the word, the voice of each of you is the most important, the most important", - concluded the President.

A nationwide vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation was scheduled for 22 April, but then postponed because of the epidemic of coronavirus in the country. Later, Putin signed a decree on a new date for voting on 1 July. Because of the need to take into account the epidemiological situation and the security of the population, it was decided that the Russians will be able to vote from 25 June to 1 July.
