German business called for the abolition of the EU sanctions against Russia

The majority of German companies operating in Russia in favor of lifting the economic sanctions of the EU, showed a survey on the business climate of the Russian-German chamber of Commerce (AHK) in the first half of 2020.

For the immediate lifting of sanctions by 41.5% of respondents and 53.4% and believe that they need to be lifted gradually.

On the eve of the Council of the EU decided to extend sanctions against certain sectors of Russia's economy, introduced in 2014 on the background of the crisis in Ukraine. The EU explained that this decision was taken "after the last evaluation implementation of the Minsk agreements, held during the teleconference, members of the European Council on 19 June 2020."

The Russian-German chamber of Commerce represents the interests of German companies in Russia and Russian companies in Germany. Currently in the VTP consists of 900 member companies, is one of the largest foreign business associations in the country. Now in Russia there are 4274 company with German capital.
