Matvienko praised the role of parliamentarians in the implementation of the policy of Russia

Russian parliamentarians promote the implementation of effective domestic and foreign policy of the country, actively oppose hostile challenges, and ensure the implementation of constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, said in greeting of the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko to the International day of Russian parliamentarianism.

According to her, guided by the principles of democracy, openness and accountability to the electorate, they make decisions that allow you to consistently strengthen the economy and social sphere, reliably protecting our national interests.

Matvienko reminded that this memorable date - June 30 - appeared in the official calendar of the UN relatively recently – may 22, 2018, at the initiative of the Interparliamentary Assembly of States-participants of CIS. "It underscores the increased role of democratic institutions, public authorities and parliaments of the modern world to build trust and understanding between peoples, the preservation of global security", - said the speaker.

The Senator expressed confidence that inter-parliamentary cooperation, exchange of best legislative practices, the preservation and development of traditions of democracy are of great importance for further development of the system of international law and establishing an atmosphere of good-neighbourliness and mutually beneficial cooperation.
