Against the project actively advocate USA, in the EU promoting its liquefied natural gas, as well as Ukraine and several European countries. States in December last year imposed sanctions against the project, demanding that the companies doing the strip, to immediately stop the construction. Swiss Allseas almost immediately announced the suspension of the gas pipeline.
In addition, at the beginning of June to the U.S. Senate was introduced another bill against the "Nord stream – 2". He proposes to impose sanctions to insurers of vessels working on construction of a gas pipeline. The document was supported by five senators from both major U.S. parties, including the influential Senator from Texas Ted Cruz.
