In the Bundestag called upon to respond to sanctions on the "Nord stream — 2"

The head of the Bundestag Committee for economy and energy, Klaus Ernst, called on the government of Angela Merkel to take a tougher stance on U.S. sanctions against the "Nord stream — 2" in case of failure of diplomatic efforts.

He added that next week in the Committee were experts on the topic of "effective countermeasures, which are at the disposal of the German government" in the case of sanctions against the pipeline.

Ernst also noted that the deputies intend to discuss with the American parliamentarians, the possibility of blocking the sanctions bill.

Previously the Agency Bloomberg with reference to sources in the German government said that Berlin is preparing a response to possible introduction by the White house additional restrictions.

In an internal document of the German Ministry of economy says new U.S. sanctions may affect a substantial number of European companies and banks, and government organizations. Merkel's government is considering a plan for the coordinated action of the European Union, the Agency said.

At the end of last year, the United States adopted the defense budget. It included restrictions against companies involved in the implementation of the "Nord stream — 2". Swiss Allseas engaged in the laying of the pipeline, the work was stopped.
