The Russian Ambassador said the reason for postponing the meeting "Norman format"

The position of Kiev pushes the prospect of holding the next summit "channel format", said in an interview with RIA Novosti, Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia in Germany Sergey Nechayev.

"Russia's position on prospects for the next summit meeting of leaders "channel format" unchanged. The internal conflict in the Donbass will help you to resolve a number of the measures, and full implementation of the Minsk agreements. The lack of real progress lies in the stubborn refusal of Kiev to engage in direct dialogue with Donetsk and Lugansk, which diminishes the prospects of the next "channel" summit," said Nechayev.

In the first three years the summit of the countries "Norman Quartet", which was held in Paris on 9 December 2019, the parties adopted a joint communique and agreed to meet in four months in Berlin to continue work on resolving the situation in Donbas. The communiqué stressed that the Minsk agreements remain the basis for work in the "channel format", provided by the breeding forces by the end of March 2020 in three new points in the Donbass. The leaders also called on to provide up to the end of 2019 the ceasefire in the Donbass. However, the meeting never took place, in particular, because of the situation with the pandemic coronavirus in the world.

Abandoning the implementation of the Minsk agreements and delaying the talks with the Donbas, Kyiv makes a real reintegration of Donbass less likely, as stated previously, the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

"This does not mean that the work (for the summit – ed.) stopped. The foreign Ministers, advisors, leaders, experts of the "channel four" continue efforts to find compromise solutions. We hope that our Western colleagues will be able to use their influence on Kiev to convey to the Ukrainian leadership, the need to fulfill commitments. Unfortunately, any progress in this direction we do not see", - said the Ambassador Nechaev.
