Nebesa: the resolution on combating glorification of Nazism support in UN

Adopted on Russia's initiative a resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism enjoys the broad support of the States members of the United Nations, which confirms the relevance of the affected issues, said Russia's permanent representative at the organization of Vasily sebenza.

According to him, in 2019 the sponsor of the document exceeded 60 countries, opposed by only the U.S. and Ukraine, and 52 countries (including member States of the EU) abstained.

"We find this position unacceptable. We are convinced that this topic should serve as a unification of States members of the United Nations, especially given the 75-year anniversary of Victory in the Second world war," the diplomat said.

Nebenzia said that Russia along with its CIS partners and the PRC took the initiative of holding a separate ceremonial meeting of the General Assembly, devoted to the 75th anniversary of the Victory.

"We have also circulated a draft resolution "Seventy-fifth anniversary of the end of the Second world war", which is designed to emphasize the importance of the Victory as the common heritage of the States of the United Nations. We believe that today this is very important", - he added.
