Russia and the United States agreed to hold a meeting of experts on military doctrines
Russian and American experts will hold several meetings on the subject of military doctrines and issues of verification, the relevant agreement was reached at the consultations on strategic stability in Vienna, said the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
According to her, this "difficult task" because the views of countries on this set of issues seriously diverge.
"The parties also agreed to hold expert dealing with all types of weapons, ability to solve strategic tasks and to influence strategic stability. We are talking about those funds that are not now covered by any restrictive international regimes. Russia is open to continuing the strategic dialogue, intends to build further relations with the United States in the field of arms control, on a strictly parity basis and relying on the principle of mutual respect for the interests and concerns of the parties", - said Zakharov.
Consultations on strategic stability issues took place in Vienna on 22-23 June. The parties discussed the issue of extending the Contract on reduction of strategic offensive arms (start-3), which was signed in 2010 and expires in February 2021, the maintenance of stability and predictability in the conditions of the termination of the INF Treaty. At the consultations, the sides confirmed the launch of the working group on space and a number of others. On the eve of the special representative of the President of the United States arms control Marshall Billingsley stated that the meeting of the expert working groups may be held in the near future. In turn, Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said RIA Novosti that a second round of interagency consultations Russia-the USA after carrying out the relevant contacts of experts could take place in late July-early August.
