Huawei was allowed to build a research centre in the UK

Chinese company Huawei announced that it has received a construction permit in the UK Cambridge research center, only in the first phase of the project the company is investing £ 1 billion (1.24 billion dollars).

In Huawei announced, that the 500 acres (about 200 hectares) of land in Cambridge, the company acquired the 2018 and 25 June, the local Council approved the first phase of the project.

Huawei will create a modern research and production center, which will engage in research, development and production of optoelectronic devices.

"Huawei invests £ 1 billion in the first phase of the project, which includes construction of a total area of 50 thousand square meters on ten acres of land (36421,7 square meters) and the creation of about 400 jobs," - said in a statement.

The company stressed that these investments will be an important incentive for the development of high technologies in the region, which will help Cambridge to strengthen as a global innovation center.

After the beginning of operation of this complex will be the international headquarters of Huawei business in the field of optoelectronics.

The company also announced that the first phase of the project the main attention will be focused on research, development and manufacture of optical devices and modules in an integrated model through which might be faster to display innovations to the market.
