In "Rosatom" has evaluated the situation with coronavirus at the site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant

The situation with coronavirus infection at the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant due to the measures taken has changed for the better, said General Director of Rosatom state Corporation Alexey Likhachev.

At the end of may Likhachev reported that about a hundred people working at the site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was infected with coronavirus. Today in a video message to the employees of the Russian nuclear industry, he called the NPP "a good example" of the effectiveness of measures to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant with two WWER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built in Ostrovets (Grodno oblast). For the country's first nuclear power plant in the Russian project generation 3 , which fully meets international norms and IAEA recommendations on safety. Ministry of energy of Belarus reported that the launch of the reactor plant of power unit No. 1 of the Belarusian NPP is scheduled for July of this year, the issuance of a unit of electricity to the network in September-October. The commissioning of the second unit is scheduled in 2021.
