The interior Ministry of Ukraine has said about "systematic discrediting" Avakov 2014

Deputy Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko said that the ex-President Petro Poroshenko for all the years of his presidency did everything to discredit the Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov.

Earlier, the parliamentary faction of the "Voice" initiated the collection of signatures for the resignation of interior Minister Arsen Avakov. Near the Verkhovna Rada on 5 June rally, its participants demanded to dismiss Avakov for high-profile crimes in the country, similar events were held in several Ukrainian cities. Later on the Council website appeared was the resolution with the offer of resignation Avakov.

He noted that Poroshenko system discredit there, and President Vladimir Zelensky want to be in the country "really were fighting crime and corruption".

"There are groups of people dissatisfied with the Minister of the interior. This fraction of "the Voice", the liberal, so to speak, part of the "public Servants". But, guys, if you don't like something, tell me what's going wrong, we are ready to change. But of those who signed a decree on the resignation of Avakov, no one came to the Minister or to me and said: you do not work, work differently. In our society, created a perception that Arsen Avakov is bad. It was founded in 2014. Poroshenko has put enormous power in the system to discredit the interior Minister to loosen it, as a politician and member of the coalition," - said Gerashchenko.

According to him, when Poroshenko became President, he insisted that Avakov resigned as interior Minister on any other post of the Minister of economy, Minister of Finance, and so on. "Then after the election, the month was not created a coalition, because Poroshenko said, take ten Ministerial portfolios, but give me MIA. This did not happen, so the system has begun to discredit. But in power there was a certain balance of power these five years. As I said, a friend of mine who knows Poroshenko, if then, in the fall of 2014, Avakov could have left, and Poroshenko were in the hands of another and the Ministry of interior, all the power levers, then Poroshenko would have until the end of his term dosidel", - said Gerashchenko.

Earlier the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that he had not proposed to the Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov to resign, but intends to meet with him. In may on a press-conferences in Kiev the head of state declared that Avakov is a "powerful Minister", and his responsibility - the case of the journalist Pavel Sheremet.

Avakov was appointed Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine on 27 February 2014. He was reassigned to the position on 29 August 2019. He was one of two Ministers of the previous government, which remained in the Cabinet after arrival on a post of President Vladimir Zelensky and the change of the Cabinet. After the resignation of the government Alexey Goncharuk in March 2020 Avakov also has kept the post.
