A court in the US decided to close the case of Michael Flynn
The court of appeals of the district of Columbia in the United States decided to close the case Michael Flynn, former adviser to the President of the United States Donald trump.
As follows from the published documents, the court decided to satisfy the petition of Prosecutor's office, which earlier withdrew charges against Flynn in the perjury.
The decision is aimed to the Federal court for the district of Columbia, which had previously denied the Prosecutor's office.
Trump commented briefly on Twitter in the court's decision. "Great! The court of appeal granted the petition of the Ministry of justice to stop criminal proceedings against General Michael Flynn," wrote the President.
Earlier, the Ministry of justice was removed from Flynn's accusations of making false statements to the FBI and asked the court to dismiss the case. Judge Emmett Sullivan refused to do so and appointed an independent expert to assess the case. He recommended that the case not be closed, and Flynn's sentence for a crime that he already admitted earlier. The expert also proposed to punish Flynn because he lied to the court because he initially confessed to the crime, and then tried to withdraw the recognition.
Flynn was an adviser to trump on national security for three weeks in January-February 2017. He was accused of wrongly informing trump and the FBI about the telephone conversations with then Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak. The case became one of the most notable in the "Russian investigation", the results of which spectracolor Robert Mueller confirmed the accusations of Russia in "intervention in election" (Moscow denies this), but failed to substantiate assumptions about the "conspiracy" trump with Moscow, which denied not only in the Kremlin but in the White house.
Recently declassified FBI documents over the years 2016-17, according to the current administration, indicate that surveillance of the environment trump and "Russian investigation" was initiated illegally. In addition, there was evidence that Flynn deliberately provoke the perjury. Trump has called the case politically motivated and has threatened litigation.
