USA invented a new way to punish Russia and China

Donald trump decided to make American values sacred to all the world: he identified one of the main goals of US foreign policy "the protection of religious freedoms" in other States. Those who, in the opinion of Americans, violates these freedoms are subject to sanctions. First under the "hand" hit China. On time. Where Washington accuses Moscow at RIA Novosti.

The notorious "protection of religious rights" embroil the US, even with a priority partner — India. Official new Delhi was not let into the country members of the Commission of the state Department on international religious freedom, which was to gather information about the "religious persecution". The head of the Indian foreign Ministry Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that his country would not tolerate any interference in questions connected with the constitutional rights of citizens.

In America, think differently. In 1998 there was adopted the law "On international religious freedom," which the U.S. government gave themselves the right to "condemn violations of religious freedom and to assist other governments in promoting fundamental rights."

And since 2001, the state Department annually publishes a report on the religious situation in all countries of the world, which gives advice to the White house, what to do with a particular state.

Until June 2020, these recommendations were just a formality and not particularly influenced US foreign policy. However, from now on, "securing religious liberty" is another instrument of pressure on other countries. Donald trump signed the corresponding decree.

"Religious freedom, the first freedom of America, is imperative to our values and national security. Freedom of religion for all people around the world — a foreign policy priority of the United States, and we vigorously promote it", — stated in the presidential decree.

What does it mean? Now Washington may impose sanctions against countries that, in the opinion of the Department, violate the religious freedom of citizens. In the next six months, American diplomats will prepare a list of States and organizations "of special concern".

But to help in "the promotion of the right to religion", according to the document, the Americans will be "religious associations and other civil society institutions". They provided various support programs — especially financial. The implementation of this plan trump has decided to allocate "at least $ 50 million". That is, the upper limit simply does not exist.

American scientists called the decree trump the new "Magnitsky act". According to this document, adopted in 2012, the US may announce sanctions anyone who, according to the White house, "violates human rights". The law itself is named after died in 2009 of a Russian citizen Sergei Magnitsky, and at first included only sanctions against Moscow.

The current "act trump" is also directly related to Russia. For three years, the Department of state accuses Moscow of "systematic violation of religious freedoms".

In the latest report, published on 10 Jun, us Department of state pointed to "the prosecution "Jehovah's Witness"*, and members of grouping "Hizb-ut-Tahrir"**. About "witnesses" in Washington keep saying 2017, when Russia's Supreme court banned the organization, and then the Russian justice Ministry included it in the list of extremist.

But the "Hizb-ut-Tahrir"** this time paid much more attention. This structure, professing radical "political Islam" and is striving to create a "world Caliphate" admitted terrorist in the beginning. And not only in Russia but also, for example, in Germany, Turkey, most Arab, Eastern European, Asian and middle Eastern countries.

It also announced "contribute to the spread of extremism." According to media reports, the group was one of the organizers of the attack on "twin towers" in new York on 11 September 2001, which killed almost three thousand people.

In addition, the leaders of "Hizb-ut-Tahrir"** repeatedly called the United States "the head of kufr (disbelief)" and called "to put an end to world domination" in this country, prophesying her "place in hell".

However, the us authorities are more concerned about the "persecution" of members of this organization in Russia, especially in Crimea. The state Department called the arrests of its adherents "a violation of the rights of Muslims" and the Crimean Tatars.

"Jehovah's witnesses"* and "Hizb-ut-Tahrir"** is a fosterling of the state Department, is intended to destabilize the region and the impact on the community. These organizations are the masses of only us interests and are a springboard for color revolutions. So all the Department concerns about any prosecutions: none in solving their internal issues we can do", commented RIA Novosti report, the state Duma Deputy from the Crimea Ruslan Balbec — himself a Crimean Tatar.

Fears of US intervention in the internal Affairs expressed by the other States of the "checklist". For example, the official representative of the foreign Ministry of China Hua Chunying called the report of the state Department hypocrisy, the manifestation of "double standards", "ideological prejudices". After all, in Washington claim that the Chinese authorities "impose Communist dogma" operating in the country to religious organizations.

In fact, the state Department did not hide that for them China is the number one goal. A few days after the publication of the report came the presidential decree on sanctions for "the persecution of Muslim Uighurs".

And to punish US plan not alone. At the beginning of the year at the initiative of Secretary Mike Pompeo was created by the Alliance of religious freedoms, which included dozens of countries, including Austria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Brazil, great Britain, Hungary, Gambia, Greece, Georgia, Poland.

And in February, Pompeo announced on accession to this organization in Ukraine. The solution, he said, was taken after a trip to Kiev, where he met with the leader of the schismatic "Orthodox Church of Ukraine" Epiphanius of Dumenko. He complained of "the influence of Moscow" on the religious situation in the country.

With representatives of other Ukrainian religious organizations, especially the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), the largest in the country, Pompeo had no contact. Although the Orthodox Church has repeatedly called on the international community to pay attention to the persecution of its clergy and believers as dissenters and authorities. Moreover, in the midst of a campaign to promote ptsu Kiev tried to expel the Bishop of the canonical Church of Gideon (Kharon), a citizen of the United States.

This was an incident that occurred in February of 2019, the state Department ignored. The report only briefly mentions the persecution and capture of churches of the Ukrainian Church. If this is not the notorious "violations of religious freedoms."

"Representatives of the UOC-MP said, but did not provide evidence that the DNC had a "raider attacks", — noted in the state Department.

Sounds pretty strange, given that almost all reports of the seizure of churches of the UOC on the official website accompanied by photos and videos. In just the last two years, the Ukrainian Church lost a few hundred temples.
