Patriarch Kirill told how the saints helped the people during the war

Saints canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church, helped the people to defend the country during the great Patriotic war, said the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill on Sunday after the Liturgy at the skete of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky in the Moscow suburb of Peredelkino, the message on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church.

On 21 June the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates day of memory "of all saints resplendent in the Russian land".

According to the Patriarch, the saints stood up for their country and saved the country "from the terrible foreign yoke, the yoke of a godless, inhuman, that could have ended in complete destruction of our people."

"The prayers of the saints of our God bless the Russian land! God bless our Church and all who, through Holy baptism, with faith and hope, for the Lord draws their prayers", - concluded the Primate of the Russian Church.
