GP as the regions where there is insufficient to provide protection of forests from fires
The General Prosecutor's office stated that several regions of the country local government did not comply with rules of fire safety in forests, the press service of the Ministry.
Bodies of Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation on a permanent basis monitor the state of legality in the sphere of ensuring fire safety in forests.
According to the Ministry, since the beginning of the fire season in Russia has arisen more than six thousand fires a total area of over 990 thousand hectares. The largest number of them fell on the Republic of Buryatia, TRANS-Baikal, Krasnoyarsk, Primorsky, Khabarovsk Krai, Bryansk, Irkutsk, Smolensk region, Kemerovo oblast, Jewish Autonomous oblast.
"One of the main causes of forest fires are still careless handling of fire in forests and setting fire to the dry grass", - stated in the message.
The Prosecutor General's office emphasizes that the attention of the Supervisory authorities is needed in Mari El and Khakassia, Altai and TRANS-Baikal territories, Amur, Irkutsk, Saratov, and Smolensk regions, as there the local authorities did not ensure compliance with fire safety requirements in the territories of the settlements adjacent to the forests.
"In particular, was delayed actions for equipment and upgrading fire lines and cleaning the area from dry vegetation and other combustible materials. In addition, expected population did not organize work on preventing the occurrence of wildfires and the implementation of the ban on agricultural burning," - said the Prosecutor's office.
