About a third of the inhabitants of the Jewish Autonomous region, including pensioners, the poor and large families have received free food baskets during the period of the mode of isolation, said in an interview with RIA Novosti acting Governor of the region Rostislav Goldstein.

"To protect the citizens – such is the task I have set from the beginning of the epidemic of the coronavirus. In the framework of the regional project "Jewish Autonomous region – the territory of action" volunteers, social workers, representatives from organizations of political parties brought home free food parcels," he told Goldstein.

He noted that at first the products were given to citizens over 65 years, they received more than 24.6 thousands of sets of products. That is, people are stimulated to stay at home. As a result, until mid-may cases of coronavirus in age from 65 years in the region were not.

"Since April, the list of recipients expanded, the new list was 28.7 thousand people, among them – people aged 60 to 64 years, low-income, large families, people with physical disabilities. All together, the recipients are a third of the population of the region!" said Goldstein.

According to him, the brunt of work for the delivery of products was taken on by volunteers, mostly young people. They worked seven days a week. In those approaches, which identify patients with mers produced individual food delivery.
