In RVIO chided the West in the selective declassification of military archives

Western countries declassify documents selectively, while Russia issues of historical truth is one of the most open countries in the world, told RIA Novosti on Friday the head of the scientific Department of the Russian military historical society (rvio), Yury Nikiforov.

Earlier the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has published an article on the Second world war. In it he, in particular, urged all countries to open access to previously unknown documents about the war and the prewar period.

"Great Britain and the United States very selectively declassify documents about the Second world war and its history. Britain has still not solved the case of Rudolf Hesse about the secret attempt of Germany to negotiate with London about the world in 1941. USA does not publish documents on different backroom negotiations, including with Hitler in 1945," - said Nikiforov.

The expert noted that Russia in the issues of historical truth one of the most open countries in the world that actively declassify archival materials remaining after the collapse of the USSR.

Nikiforov noted that especially a lot of archival documents declassified and digitized in 2000-e years, and wondered why the Western partners can't say the same.
