DNR plans from June 22 to open a check point

The self-proclaimed Donetsk people's Republic plans from June 22 to open to pass on Kiev-controlled territory one of the checkpoints on the frontline in the Donbass, said Friday the representative of DND in the contact group, foreign Minister of the Republic of Natalia Nikonorova.

Earlier, the authorities of the DNI because of the situation with the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 decided to stop the traffic across the line of contact until further notice. Later Kiev unilaterally decided to open the crossings across the line of contact. In DND called the unilateral opening of the checkpoints as a provocation and called for the opening of humanitarian corridors.

"Until Monday, June 22, we are waiting for a clear position of Kiev on the occasion of all necessary measures for the organization of admission of citizens through the PPC subject to the rights of citizens and taking into account health risks. If before the designated period, this position will not be granted to us, we, on humanitarian grounds and in view of the pressing social need, be ready to take unilateral actions", - quotes the words of Nikanorovoj press service of the foreign Ministry DND.

According to the envoy of the Republic, on Monday, June 22, the authorities of the Republic "on one of the PPC are going to be skipping all those wishing to leave the territory of Ukraine".

By the decision of Kiev in 2015 with uncontrolled Ukrainian authorities territories of Donbas entered in the transmission mode. To enter or leave the breakaway DNI and LC is possible only through checkpoints or through the territory of the Russian Federation. In the Donetsk region, there are four crossing points. The LC is valid only pedestrian checkpoint "Stanitsa Lugansk". OSCE observers said that the transport and economic blockade leads to humanitarian disaster in the region, and urged to open more crossing points. In March, the people pass through the line of contact have been suspended in connection with the situation with COVID-19.

The Ukrainian authorities in April 2014 began a military operation against the breakaway LC and the DNI, which declared independence after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. According to the latest UN victims of the conflict were about 13 thousand people. The settlement of the situation in the Donbass is discussed, including during meetings in Minsk the contact group, which from September 2014 adopted three documents regulating the steps to de-escalate the conflict. However, after the armistice agreements between the parties to the conflict continue shooting.
