Merkel urged to await the outcome of the trial on the murder khangoshvili
German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged to await the outcome of the trial in the murder of a citizen of Georgia in Berlin, before talking about further action in the case.
Earlier the state office of public Prosecutor of Germany has announced that it has sent to court the case of the Russian citizen, who is accused of murder of Georgian citizen in Berlin in August 2019. In this regard, the Russian Ambassador Sergey Nechayev was summoned to the German foreign Ministry, said on Thursday the foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas. The Minister added that "the German government unconditionally reserves the right to further action in this case." The Ambassador in turn stated that the threat of new measures against Russia, if implemented, will not remain without reaction.
Last year, Germany declared persona non grata two employees of the Russian Embassy in Berlin in connection with the murder of 40-year-old Georgian citizen Zelimkhan khangoshvili. Immediately after the murder in Berlin, was arrested a suspect, who, according to prosecutors, is a 49-year-old Russian.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that questions about the results khangoshvili, who is suspected of Russia in terrorist activities were discussed with Germany "on the level of intelligence repeatedly" but "a formal request through the Prosecutor's office did not, because our competent authorities considered it to be meaningless," with prior "negative response". As noted earlier, the Russian leader, who was killed in Berlin took an active part in the hostilities on the side of separatists in the Caucasus, and was one of the organizers of the explosions in the Moscow metro.
Putin noted that this man was wanted, Russia has repeatedly appealed to Germany with a request to give it, but did not find understanding. According to him, Russia will "do everything in order to understand this" and to help German colleagues in the investigation.
The Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in the winter of this year, said that the approval of the authorities of Germany on unsatisfactory level of cooperation of agencies of the Russian Federation in the murder investigation khangoshvili is incorrect "contacts in this case was carried out from August 2019 through partnership channels established between the intelligence services of Russia and Germany".
