Headquarters: the candidate in presidents of Belarus of Babariko is in the KGB jail
Contender for the presidency of Belarus, former head of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko is in the KGB detention center, told RIA Novosti on Friday in the headquarters of the policy.
"They both are now in the KGB detention center, and Victor D., and his son Edward," - said the representative of the headquarters. He said that information about the location of Babariko in the KGB remand prison received from the sisters of the policy.
According to the interlocutor of the Agency, for Thursday to Babariko and his son, lawyers and prevented. Other information on the case is currently being refined by staff, he added.
Previously the head office of Belagroprombank in Minsk were searched. Babariko headed the Bank for over 20 years. The state control Committee (SCC) of Belarus said that the Bank acted organized criminal group, the conclusion of money abroad. On Thursday, Babariko was detained, according to the SCC, due to the fact that he was the "organizer, leader, illegal activities, attempted to influence witnesses, to hide the traces of earlier committed crimes and just recently to remove a large sum of money from accounts controlled by him". Together with the politician was arrested and his son Edward, who is the head of his initiative group for nominating a candidate. As noted in the Department, including investigated the illegal withdrawal of more than 430 million dollars over several years from the account of BGB in the Bank in Latvia-ABLV.
In criminal cases of BGB detained about 20 people, including its top executives, many are cooperating with the investigation and testify against Babariko as the organizer of the criminal scheme, reported to the SCC.
Babariko previously expressed the opinion that the actions of the authorities of the Republic are politically motivated nature on the backdrop of the presidential campaign. However, the head of the SCC Ivan Tertel said that criminal cases against top managers of Belagroprombank and the presidential election in which a candidate of Babariko, not connected in any way.
Presidential elections will be held in Belarus on 9 August. In the political campaigns 19 of the June 13 presidential candidates in getting signatures for his nomination candidates. On Thursday, the head of the CEC Lidia Yermoshina said that to date, two policy handed over to territorial election commissions the required number of signatures of Babariko and the incumbent Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko. At least for registration is 100 thousand valid signatures. The decision on registration of candidates will be taken by the CEC.
