Australia is not planning to open for tourists by 2021
Australian authorities do not plan to open the borders to tourists until 2021, according to Lonely Planet.
Australia successfully coped with the pandemic, but is in no hurry to take risks and to open its borders to foreign travelers. There, as in New Zealand, mass infection managed to escape with strict isolation and tight border controls.
The Minister of tourism Australia, Simon Birmingham, said that the ban on international tourism will act, most likely by 2021. Exceptions may be made for international students and visitors with residence permit, they will have to undergo a two-week quarantine.
In the meantime, the Agency encourages Australians to travel around the country and even launched a special project, telling you where to go and what to see.
