Embassy of the United States, Canada and Germany has warned Kiev against settling of accounts
Embassy of the United States, Canada and Germany in the Ukraine on the day of judgment on election of a measure of restraint ex-President Petro Poroshenko has urged Kiev not to use justice system to settle political scores.
The Pechersky district court of Kiev on Thursday will consider the petition for election Poroshenko measure.
"In a democracy, all citizens have the right to equal and fair treatment to his compliance with the law. The justice system should not be used for settling political accounts", - stated in the message of the U.S. Embassy in Twitter.
The Embassy of Canada in Ukraine urged to observe the law and not to involve politics in the legal system. "In 2014, Ukraine has passed a difficult but necessary path of democratic reforms... the Ukrainians expect the equality of all before the law. All citizens have the right to the presumption of innocence, fair trial and legal system free from political interference. History teaches that the emergence of interference and revenge only generate the same", - is spoken in the message of the Embassy on Twitter.
The Ambassador of Germany in Ukraine Anka Feldguzen said that I would not like a repetition of the scenario of the case of the party leader "Batkivshchyna" Yulia Tymoshenko. In 2011 a court in Kiev found Tymoshenko guilty on charges of "abuse of power and official authority when signing gas agreements with Russia in 2009" and sentenced to seven years imprisonment. Tymoshenko freed the coup in 2014.
"I then watched almost all court proceedings in the case of Yulia Tymoshenko. I hope that I won't have to face this issue", - quotes Feldguzen Embassy in Twitter.
The state Bureau of investigations of Ukraine Poroshenko suspects that in 2018 he made holding then a post of the head of the foreign intelligence Service of Yegor God to appoint his Deputy Sergei Semochko - at that time the chief of the Kiev Department of security Service of Ukraine. Poroshenko and his lawyers refused to accept a suspicion they think he tried to give illegal.
In July 2018 Semochko was appointed first Deputy head of the foreign intelligence Service. In early October of the same year he published a journalistic investigation Bihus.info where it was alleged that in the years 2015-2017, during the conflict in the Donbass, family Semochko without having any major legal income, bought a mansion in one of the most expensive suburban settlements - the village of Kozin near Kiev - worth several million dollars. Also in the investigation said that the family "of Ukrainian intelligence and counterintelligence" Semochko listed in the databases of taxpayers of Russia. Subsequently, the Ukrainian counter-intelligence has confirmed the presence of Russian citizenship his wife Semochko. Poroshenko in April 2019 fired Semochko.
