The head of the Agency commissioned to assess the damage from the fuel spill in Norilsk
The head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov was commissioned to conduct an expedition up the river Pyasina for the assessment of impacts from a spill of diesel fuel in Norilsk for the environment and water resources, told RIA Novosti press-service of Federal Agency for fishery.
The head of Department on 17 June held a meeting at which was presented information on the results of field surveys by specialists of the Federal Agency for fishery zones of ecological disaster in Norilsk. The survey was conducted from 11 to 14 June.
"Ilya Shestakov instructed to immediately prepare and carry out an expedition across the river Pyasina to the exit in the Kara sea with the aim of obtaining as much information as possible to determine the final damage done to the environment and aquatic bioresources Norilo-Piasinsky system", - said the Agency.
In the course of the survey was made a helicopter flight over the scene of the accident and the consequences of bottling. The Agency indicates that the traces of oil were visually recorded in the rivers Daldykan and Barn, and on the banks of lake Pyasino. Employees of all-Russian scientific research Institute of fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducted the selection gidrologicheskikh samples at 15 stations in the estuary Barn and lake Pyasino.
In addition, was carried out ichthyological studies: set gillnets on the river Barn (before and after the installation of booms). "Currently, the research results are transferred to the VNIRO for the preliminary calculation of the damage caused to aquatic bioresources. VNIRO formed the plan of research work for a full assessment of the damage," - said the Agency.
One of the storage tanks of diesel fuel at TPP-3 (owned by JSC "NTEK", a member of the group Norilsk Nickel) Norilsk may 29 was damaged due to the subsidence of the supports of the Foundation, there was an emergency with a leak about 21 thousand tons of fuel. Norilsk Nickel believes the main cause of the accident, the warming in the permafrost, which resulted in the movement of the supports under the fuel tanks. On the territory of the Krasnoyarsk region introduced a state of emergency at the Federal level. MOE reported on the localization of the spilled fuel. A criminal case was instituted under several articles of the criminal code.
