Foreign Ministry demanded from US authorities to provide treatment of Yaroshenko in prison

Moscow demands from the U.S. authorities to provide treatment of Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, serving time in an American prison, in addition Washington needs to show humanism and to liberate the Russians and other wrongfully convicted citizens and allow them to return home in a pandemic, said the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

She recalled that the health of Russians was severely eroded, including due to torture during interrogation in Liberia: he knocked out teeth, damaged internal organs.

"Despite this, the administration of the institution in which he is emphatically demonstrates the neglect of his appeals for medical help, in particular, even does not give painkillers to alleviate the severe toothache. This approach is categorically unacceptable, and we demand from the US authorities to ensure that our countryman the necessary treatment, the more so in prison for Konstantin Yaroshenko there is an increased risk of Contracting coronavirus. Washington needs to show humanism and to immediately release the Russian and other wrongfully convicted citizens of our country, giving them the opportunity to return home," - said the official representative of the foreign Ministry.

Yaroshenko in the United States in 2011 was sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges in the preparation of the conspiracy to commit delivery of large quantities of drugs into U.S. territory.
