Russia started to print for Yemen's new banknotes

Russia started to print for Yemen, a new banknote makes it in accordance with the previously concluded contract, said at a briefing the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

The representative of the Russian foreign Ministry was asked to comment on media reports about the detention of separatists in Yemen convoy carrying 64 billion reais in banknotes printed by the Central Bank of Yemen in Russia.

"Based on the information we receive, the above incident really took place in the capital of the southern Yemeni city of Aden. We can also confirm that in accordance with the contract that was signed with the official Yemeni authorities in 2017, JSC Goznak prints for the country's new banknotes", she said.

"We are talking about purely commercial transaction, its obligations under which the above-mentioned Russian company, we understand, performs with his usual high professionalism, quality and on time", she added.

Goznak delivers its products and services to more than 20 countries. In different years the enterprise won tenders for the printing of banknotes is not only for Yemen but also for countries such as Madagascar, Colombia, Rwanda, Indonesia, Laos.
