The United States announced new sanctions against Syria
USA impose new sanctions against Syria in the framework of the law "Caesar", they will also be the President of SAR Bashar al-Assad and his wife, the statement said Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.
"Today the Treasury and the Department of state announced 39 names (in the sanctions list - ed.) in accordance with the law of "Caesar" and the decree 13894 as the beginning of what will become a consistent campaign of economic and political pressure to deprive the Assad regime of revenue and support," the statement said Pompeo.
The statement noted that under the new sanctions, including the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his wife ASMA Assad. In addition, new sanctions directed against the Syrian businessman Mukhammed of Hamsa, and Assad's brother - Maher Assad who heads the 4th division of the Syrian army.
"We will continue this campaign in the coming weeks and months to spread them to individuals and businesses that support the Assad regime," it said in a statement.
It is noted that the law of "Caesar" and other US sanctions "are not directed against humanitarian assistance to the people of Syria and not interfere with the activities (the USA - ed.) to stabilize the situation in the North-East of Syria."
The US President Donald trump has signed a law that also became known as "Caesar", at the end of 2019. This law entered into force on 1 June and includes the sanctions, affecting virtually all sectors of the economy of Syria.
