Human rights activists reported a new case in the Belarusian blogger Tikhanovski
A new criminal case was brought against the works of Sergei Tikhanovski, whose wife, Svetlana's running for President of Belarus, reported not registered by the authorities of Belarus human rights center "Spring".
Earlier, the head of the Central election Commission of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina said that appealed to the investigative Committee of the Republic with the request to check whether the actions fall under Tikhanovski criminal charges of obstructing the elections and the work of the CEC.
"According to human rights activists "Spring", in relation to Sergei Tikhanovski was one more criminal case under article 191 of the criminal code of the Republic of Belarus (obstruction of the exercise of voting rights or the work of the CEC on elections and electoral commissions)," - said in a statement on the website of the centre.
As punishment under article assigned a public work or a fine, or corrective works for the term up to two years, or restraint of liberty for a term up to three years, or imprisonment for the same term.
Earlier tikhanovski planned to participate in the presidential elections in Belarus, which will be held on August 9, but was unable to register the CEC an initiative group for his nomination because he was serving an administrative arrest and could not personally sign the necessary documents. However, the initiative group registered Tikhanovski wife Svetlana, and she has already collected the necessary 100 thousand signatures for nominating a candidate.
He tikhanovski and at least nine of his supporters have been detained. Concerning them criminal case under article "organization and preparation of activities that breach public order" because of the incident at a campaign rally in Grodno, where he was a scuffle with two police officers. Human rights activists of Belarus is considered blogger as a political prisoner.
Spouse Tikhanovski said Tuesday that it received threats in connection with participation in the election campaign.
