Zarif thanked Lavrov for the efforts of SVPD
The Iranian foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif thanked his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov for his efforts to prevent the collapse of the Joint comprehensive plan of action on Iran's nuclear program (SVPD).
"The fact that the US is trying to do now is outrageous. I would like to thank you personally for your efforts, for your letters to the UN Secretary General and I want to Express my appreciation for the work that is taking our friends (the Deputy foreign Minister of the Russian Federation 0 ed.) Sergey Ryabkov, and the Russian permanent representatives in Vienna and new York to the US plan, and, unfortunately, their cooperation with the remaining countries in the AGREEMENT has not led to a complete disaster," said Zarif at a meeting with Lavrov in Moscow.
He stressed that the United States continues to seek to destroy the nuclear deal.
In 2015, the "six" (UK, Germany, China, Russia, USA, France) and Iran announced the achievement of a Joint comprehensive plan of action. The agreement involves the lifting of sanctions in exchange for limiting Iran's nuclear program. The deal in its original form lived for three years: in may 2018, the United States announced its unilateral withdrawal from her and the restoration of tougher sanctions against the Islamic Republic. Russian and European participants in the transaction stated the need to preserve the agreement. Iran has announced the phased reduction of their obligations under the deal.
